My bf & I have gotten really serious. I love him very much and I want to be supportive of him. I am just nervous that he doesn’t have direction. We are both 28. I am a single mom, have a career, and just about done with my college education. He hasn’t really thought about a direction with a career until recently. These are some of his options now. I want to help him, but I’m a little scared about our future… I know he’s a hard worker, but I’m just scared of him just now trying to figure things out.

He has been with a company that manufactures heavy duty construction equipment & he is the foreman of the assembly dept. Unfortunately, the company isn’t doing so well. It is a small family owned company and it has laid of the majority of its employees. He also has a history of working for his dad’s excavating company. It has been in business for 15 yrs. They do everything from excavating, to putting in new yards, to seal-coating & snow removal. His dad has offered to pass the company down to him, but he is nervous about running it. He can do the work very well, but he just can’t tell how profitable the company will be. His dad has always worked for the fire dept part-time as well and he has just always paid his son’s & other’s in cash to assist with jobs. So it isn’t a very well organized business, but it is reputable. He also has been taking classes just recently for HVAC since a friend of his family has offered him an entry-level position if he completes some classes.
I am just looking for advice how how to help support him… which direction to take. He has a few right now & I don’t know which is better. Wanted to see if anyone had any opinions on the options. I love him regardless & I will be supportive. It is just a scary time as we all know.
