Hello, I am trying to figure out how to come up with the needed dimensions and cost for a remodeling project. I plan on putting a 40×60 2 or 3 story addition with a full 9′ or 10′ basement.
Hello, I am trying to figure out how to come up with the needed dimensions and cost for a remodeling project. I plan on putting a 40×60 2 or 3 story addition with a full 9′ or 10′ basement.
My existing home is a full basement with 8 foot ceilings. I plan to build right next to existing foundation.
How can I figure out how much dirt will need to be removed for these specs and how can I figure out how much the excavation will cost?

If I understand your question…….THATS A BIG HOLE YOUR MAKING……
the foot print will be 40X60 (outside demetions) and lets say 9′ deep.. so you calc..
(40×60x9) / 27= 800 cubic yards of dirt.
BUT !!! You will need to make the hole bigger than that to give workers room to form the walls….
so lets say you give them 5′ working room on 3 sides……..
that would mean (50×65x9) / 27 =1083 yards to move but only 800 to haul off…
You will need to bid this with your local folks…
Good luck….
