If you have bought the Love Bangle from the sprite casino tree, you can check Carter’s affection points.
If you find that his affection points keep dropping, then you have been littering around the valley outside of your farm (including dropping weeds on the ground).
Each time you litter, all the bachelor’s affection points will drop dramatically.. which could be the reason why Carter’s heart is still black.
